Instructor Certs, Updates & Rough Water Training, Matanzas and Tybee

But if you have interest in this year’s rough water training at Matanzas Inlet, or in our ACA L-4 Coastal Kayak Instructor Update at Tybee Island, please read on. Registration is open for candidates, auditing students and practice students.
The L-4 Update will be held on Tybee Island, GA 19-21 October 2018. Cost is $450. Respond to this email to sign up, ask questions or to request a mailout. There are three slots still available.
The Matanzas rough water program will be held 16-21 February 2019. Cost is $450 for three days or $750 for all six and is the same for all levels of participation, including audits and practice students. There are 11 slots available. We will as always, offer coaching for a range of skill levels, starting at Intro to Surf.
There will be a concurrent L-5 IDW/ICE Certification in progress the first three days (16-18 Feb), and as needed the last three days to complete requirements. Academic presentations and classroom debriefs of on-water sessions, will as much as possible, be open to all levels. You must be pre-approved to participate as an on-water practice student. ACA prerequisites apply to be an eligible L-5. The course can count as an IDW, or as an ICE if you’ve previously received credit for an IDW.
Because of the commitments needed for such a large coaching staff, and the limited number of slots available, there is some urgency for a head count of committed participants on the Matanzas program. Participants will be accepted in order of their commitment. To do so, simply reply that you’d like to join us. I’ll reply with a request for deposit and all relevant course information.
We plan to have as our returning coaches, Tom Noffsinger, Ashley Brown, Jeff Atkins, Debbie Kearney, myself and possibly Bob Myron.
Sean Morley, from the San Francisco Bay Area will also be joining us this year to lead-teach as an L-5 IT candidate.
