Weather Workshop
March 7, 2020 @ 9:30 am - 5:00 pm
B Dawson came across a guy who does marine weather forecasting and training for a living. He was recently doing a weekend workshop in Annapolis that cost several hundred dollars to attend. We’ve got him for considerable less. The guy is the real deal:
Cross Currents has hired him to do a one-day workshop on Mar 7. It will be at OcaMocha in Arbutus. The session will go from 9:30 to 5:00 or 5:30. The room is confirmed and this is definite.
The curriculum looks fabulous. There are units on:
- basic physical and meteorological principles and language
- understanding weather forecasting graphics and symbols
- forecasting resources for predicting wave height and direction
- forces that influence the wind and predicting speed, duration, direction
- interpreting and using Doppler radar and satellite imagery
- understanding low pressure systems and tropical storms; methods for predicting strength, duration etc.
- thunderstorms – atmospheric conditions leading to formation; assessing their potential development using internet resources and reading the sky
We need a minimum of 25 people to make it happen. There is a maximum of 35 people who can attend.
The cost is $40, which covers the trainer’s fees and expenses. There’s nothing financial in this for Cross Currents.
